이 책은 재미있는 Story만으로도 충분히 아이들의 Reading(읽기)를 이끌고 나갈 힘이 있지만, 또 한편으로는 막 영어 읽기의 맛을 배워가는 아이들에게는 라임과 의성어 표현이 한층 더 읽기의 맛을 내주고 있습니다.
[책에서 배우는 영어표현]
1. The scrubbing machine : 우리나라에는 대중화되지 않은 청소기 종류. 주둥이 부분에 Brush(솔)가 달려있고 작동을 시키면 청소용 세제가 흘러나와 솔이 돌아가며 빡빡 문질러 청소하는 기능을 가졌음.
2. 가전 제품이나, 조명을 끄고 켤 때 사용하는 표현입니다. ~을 켜다 : She turned it on. ( She turned the scrubbing machine on. ) ~을 끄다 : She tried to trun it off.
3. 청소할 때 사용하는 표현입니다. ~을 빡빡 문질러 청소하다.라는 뜻으로 It scrubbed ~.라고 합니다. 예문) a. It scrubbed her desk. b. It scrubbed her chair. c. It scrubbed her house.
3. 청소기가 철퍼덕 소리를 내요! : rhyme(라임)에 맞춘 의태어의 한 표현 - glop : (사전상 의미) 걸쭉거리는 음식을 접시에 나눠담을 때 나는 소리를 흉내낸 표현 책 속 유사 표현으로 rhyme을 맞춘 plop이 있음. 예문) The machine went glop!

1. 엄마와 함께 청소기로 집안 청소해보기 * Mom : Ein! Why don't we clean up the house ? (아인아! 우리 집청소해볼까?) * Child : O.K.! Mom. Let's start! ( 좋아요! 엄마! ) 혹은 책 내용처럼 거품을 내서 청소를 해봐도 좋습니다. * Mom : Sweet heart!
