하루는 Big Bear은 마을 신문을 보며 우리들의 이웃사람들의 이야기들이 하나도 없는 걸 알았습니다. 그래서 마을 동물들에게 직접 신문을 제작하자고 제안을 합니다. 모든 동물들은 Big Bear을 중심으로 신문을 만들기 위해 이리저리 열심히 뛰어다닙니다. 각자 맡은 부분에서 충실이 이행하여 드디어 신문 배달까지 하게 됩니다.

Loreen Leedy의 그림에서는 만화적인 그림이 가미가 되어 있어 아이들에게 쉽게 다가갈 수 있는 책입니다. 말풍선 형태로 대화체가 들어가 있고 또 설명되어진 문장의 글들이 같이 적당하게 혼합이 되어 있습니다. 책을 읽는 다는 것보다 그냥 즐겨본다는 느낌이 들 정도로 그림이 재미있습니다.

good 이나 great보다 더 좋게 표현할 때 하는 말입니다.

->‘아름다움’의 뜻보다 ‘아주 잘 만들어진’ ‘너무나 훌륭한’ 이란 뜻이 있습니다. 음식을 먹었을때도 이런말들을 자주 쓴답니다.

Loreen Leedy(1959~ )
그녀는 Wilmington, Delaware에서 태어났으며 미술을 전공하였으나 특별히 어떤 것을 할지는 확실치 않았습니다. 그러다 플래스틱 찰흙으로 장신구와 체스 셑 등을 만들어 팔기 시작 했는데 주로 핀과 귀걸이, 돼지, 고양이, 용 등 다른 동물 들을 주로 만들었습니다.
25세가 되었을 때 만들던 인형을 캐릭터로 책을 쓰기 시작 하였는데 첫 책의 ‘A Number of Dragons' 으로 수 세기 책 이었습니다.
그 후에 약 30 권의 책을 직접 쓰고 그림도 그리고 하였습니다.
지금은 Florida에서 과학자인 그녀의 남편 Andy와 살고 있습니다.
