노부영 팝송 신간 4권이 나온다는 공지사항 보셨죠?

운좋게도 제가 먼저 4권을 받아 보았어요.

Man Gave Names to All the Animals

이 책은 60년대 포크송의 대가 밥 딜런이 부른 노래입니다.

Bob Dylan 이름은 많이 들어봤는데 얼굴은 영 생각이 안나서 찾아봤어요.

이런 모습이시네요.

밥 딜런의 노래는 왠지 많은 의미를 품고 있는 노래들이 많은 거 같은데 이 노래만은 그렇지 않은 거 같아요. 제목 그대로 그리고 스토리 그대로 어떤 동물을 보고 그 생김새와 다양한 모습을 보고 이렇게 이름을 지었다! 는 내용 그대로입니다. 그래서 아이들을 위한 책으로 나올 수 있지 않나 싶어요.

노래가 워낙 중독성이 강해서 아이들과 있을 때 그냥 틀어놓기만 해도 아이들이 따라한답니다. 물론 엄마들도 참 좋아해요. 이 노래를 부르면서 또는 책을 읽어주면서 아이에게 노래가 어떤 의미를 담고 있는지 설명하기도 쉬운 그런 노래인거 같아요.

동영상을 찾으면서 알게 된건 밥 딜런이 직접 부른 동영상은 없다는 거! 또한 정말 많은 가수들이 리바이벌 했다는 거. 저는 이 노래를 제이슨 뮤라즈가 부르는 걸로 먼저 들었어요. 그래서 책에 들어있는 시디, 밥 딜런이 부른 노래로 처음 들었을 때 뭔가 좀 이상하더라고요. Jason Mraz제이슨 뮤라즈를 아시는 분(아마도 이름은 몰라도 그의 노래 I'm yours는 많이 들어보셨을 거예요.)은 노래 전주 부분에서 그의 느낌을 팍 받을 수 있으실거예요.

이 책은 그림에서 느낌이 팍 온답니다. 정말 야생적이거든요. 책 뒤쪽에 일러스트레이터의 사진이 나오는데 정말이지 야생동물만을 그리는 작가의 느낌이 절실히 느껴지죠. 그림작가의 다른 책을 찾아보니  이 책이 나오네요. 한글번역판으로 나온 책인데 토끼와 빗방울이라는 제목만으로도 자연관찰 책을 별로 좋아하지 않는 제 둘째가 너무 좋아하는 책이랍니다.

가사를 적어볼게요. 천천히 읽어보세요. 중간 중간 정확히 어떤 동사인지 잘 몰라도 동물의 이름을 보면 그 의미를 짐작할 수 있을 거예요. 동물 이름을 어떻게 지었는지 읽어보세요. 재미있어요.

마지막으로 가사를 보면서 한 번 불러보세요. 들으면 들을수록 푹 빠지게 될거예요. 어쩜 그렇게 야생적인지 나중에 속 페이지 그림을 보시면 아시겠지만 그림과 너무 잘 어울린답니다. 후렴구가 많이 나오는 편이라 제목도 쉽게 외워지고요^^
